Biography
At a very young age, my uncle gave me his old Zorki camera and on showing me how to use it, I was hooked.
Taking all sorts of pictures that were mainly 'snaps', I just loved the process of pressing the button and seeing what came out, soon learning that photography was not pocket money friendly. I sometimes wish I had kept all of those all photographs, just to see how my child-like eyes differed from today.
I was, at first, very cynical about digital photography, but on purchasing my first DSLR, I found that not only could you take pictures, but you could manipulate those pictures, like an artist's canvas, to produce something very different, unusual. I went on to produce abstract pictures, taking simple shots with very vivid colours and using natural light, to compose works that were very energetic, stretching the image to create swirly lines, or cutting and pasting to make images within images.
I have exhibited my works at the Agora Gallery in New York, Battersea Contemporary Art Fair and through a gallery at the Affordable Art Fair.
It was then, for personal reasons, I took a long sabbatical from my camera. When the time was right for me and after investing in a very decent Canon DSLR, I am now back on the photographic road. I find all I now want to do is take great pictures. Any pictures. Reflections, landscapes, street photography, wildlife, I am out and about with my camera and I shoot what inspires me.
